Yes there is a disturbing loss of national identity. We need to teach our children to engender a national pride and a sense of how history teaches us life lessons

The young people of today should be taught about Australian history .as a country we have a very proud military history and a lot of young people should be taught about the sacrifices made by many young people the same age.The australian soldier is a tough well trained but compassionate soldier and our military forces have left a footmark in history that is very hard for other countries to follow.Iam proud to have served in the australian armed forces.

As a year 9 student studying at a public school I believe that Australian youth needs to learn about the history that gives us the life we have today. I am also in the Australian Army Cadets and am appaled by the lack of knowledge that my school friends have on Australian War History.

Absolutely, sadly i dont think there is enough Australian history taught in our schools - especially our military events that have contributed so much to what every Australian today takes for granted

Definitely - I have some American friends and in conversation they have a depth of knowledge about their country which is taught to them from day 1. As much as we go on about the attitude of Americans, they are proud of their country and its history.

kids should be taught what our soldiers did in ww2 my adult kids only know bits about it that i have told them it is sad that they dont know our history

It should definitely be taught in schools. l never learnt about this important part of our history in school. The past generations should be acknowledged for the sacrifies they have made, and what better way then by teaching our young generation(s) of these important events and the sacrifies made for the freedom that we enjoy today.

I do teach about it every year. My father was there, and never talked about it to me. I was an adult before I found out what went on then, and vowed as a teacher that my students would know.

Most definately, each generation need to know what sacrifices, the price that was paid for their current freedoms they enjoy. I work in a school in QLD and enjoy passing on when I have a chance the information I have learnt from watching, reading and listening to accounts of WW2
